If your car is equipped with Electric Parking Brake (EPB), whenever you want to replace the rear brake pads you have to release the EPB beforehand. If you don’t release the EPB and just try to push the caliper’s pistons in mechanically, you will damage the EPB actuator and then you must replace the entire caliper assembly. Those three steps include:
– Releasing the EPB with scan tool
– Releasing the EPB with a battery
– Releasing the EPB manually
